Nelson – MLA Michelle Mungall is thrilled to welcome Provincial Minister for Public Safety and Solicitor General the Honorable Mike Farnworth to join her at Kootenay Pride this weekend. While in the Kootenays the Minister will also participate in a round table on cannabis with local industry leaders to learn more about how legalization has affected the craft industry here in the Kootenays.

“This Sunday hundreds of people will march on the streets of Nelson in celebration and support of the strength, resilience and activism of the LGBTQ2S+ community.  I am thrilled to show my colleague Mike Farnworth the vibrancy and inclusivity we live daily in our small mountain town” said Mungall.

Minister Farnworth is happy to celebrate this weekend with the local community “As an openly gay MLA since 1991 I have seen a lot of changes over the years and I am really happy to support and participate in Kooteany Pride this weekend.” Said Minster Farnworth.

Mungall is facilitating communication about the roll out of non-medical cannabis legalization, “local Kootenay producers are facing challenges and I want to give them the opportunity to provide feedback directly to the Minister responsible on how legalization is working on the ground here in the Kootenays” said Mungall.

“To everyone taking part in Sunday’s parade and celebrations, Happy Pride!”  said Mungall.
